Marissa Larkin recently promoted to reporting on Manor Crimes for her magazine "The World At Large". Fresh from prison for a series of articles. Is assigned the case of a possible kidnapping of the Marlow twins, (Jessie and Julie) who were famous for a diaper commercial and a TV show about High School. The story can be good and probably someone else would like it. For me there is way too much description in it. On scene described the different colors of the curtains, compared to the different colors of the rugs, moving on to how there was way too many cushions in the room and how many would have to be moved from the couch which also clashed with the other colors. An extremely slow paced book. I won't not recommend it, but it is not for me. I'm on chapter 9 already, there is still no action except for a conversation on a plane with two octogenarians who plan on breaking into a celebrities house for their bucket list.

Gone in a Flash A Naked Eye Cozy Mystery edition by Leah Burke Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

Well crafted, good plot, interesting characters. Looking forward to more from this author.
Interesting, fast-paced kidnapping investigation with a touch of humor. Believable characters that you either hate or love or encourage to do the right thing. I read it in one sitting. I review for S. Alabaster and, thankfully, received this book to review. Didn't know this was the second book with Marissa.
This book, was great. It never stopped moving along and I was fascinated with the story and couldn't put it down. No dead spots or slow going, something happened practically, if not, every page. A wonderful book, it is the second in the series, I really enjoyed both of them and look forward to the next one..
This is the second book in The Naked Eye Cozy Mystery Series. I really enjoy reading cozy mysteries because they are often a quick but suspenseful read. This series does have a little more element of mystery than most cozy mysteries do. I love how the author has developed Marissa into a character which is both a delight to follow and one the reader can relate.

This series follows reporter Marissa Larkin as she is given her assignments and told to get the story. Marissa is one reporter who is not afraid to pursue her case at whatever the cost. I love how the author develops each of the supporting characters. I look forward to the next in this series.

I received a copy from the publisher. I wrote the review on my own accord.
This book was great! As a photo journalist for The World At Large magazine, Marissa Larkins was in prison and wrote stories about how it was it was from a insiders point of view. Now she is assigned to the kidnapping of the famous Marlow Twins. She goes and meets the producer, the mother and the Beverly Hills police department. The mother is a selfish piece of work! The producer is worried more about his show than the twins safe return. Why hasn't a ransom request been sent yet? As Marissa deeps deeper, there are many people that are making the return of the girls harder than need be. Then Marissa is kidnapped herself! Can she safe the girls? What about herself? Read the book to find out how things go down. I received ARC of this story by the publisher. The review is voluntary.
This is the second in the series about a news magazine reporter called Marissa, who is prepared to do anything, even put herself in harms way, to get to the bottom of mysteries.
This series is a bit darker and more explicit than the usual cozy mystery, but nothing too much, so all the explicit stuff still happens off-camera, so to speak, although there is some humour in it as well.
I really like the character of Marissa, she is resourceful and tenacious and I think that she is very well drawn by the author, and she pulls the reader along on the roller-coaster that is her investigation. The other characters are well drawn and believable, although the mother does come across as rather a caricature, but perhaps that is what the author was trying to convey. Overall it is a great piece of writing and well worth reading if you don't mind something on the slightly grittier end of the cozy mystery scale.
I did receive a complimentary copy of this book from the publishers, but this review was written voluntarily and is entirely my own opinion.
Marissa has just returned to her magazine from jail and is promoted to a crime writer. She takes off to California to cover the kidnapping of twin thirteen year old stars. She meets an interesting detective and other characters in her quest for the truth. She is spunky and has a can do attitude and gets her story. There is a love story developing in the story and it will be fun to see if it goes anywhere. A light fun read.
